Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, participated in the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, headed by Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which was held at Minya University, in the presence of Major General Osama Al-Qadi, Minya Governor, Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and Dr. Essam. Farhat, President of Minya University and heads of the public universities.
Al-Nomani said that the Council began its session by offering congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on his victory for a new presidential period, which reflects the people’s faith in their wise leadership and their ability to confront the challenges facing the nation.
Al-Numani said that a number of important files were discussed at the council table
including universities’ preparations for the first semester exams of the current academic year, following up the time map for the end of the semester, and preparing for the activities of the second semester.Al-Nomani added that the preparations of university hospitals and lifting the state of emergency in various universities were discussed in conjunction with Christmas, adding that Dr. Ayman Ashour praised the progress in the ranking of the Egyptian universities in the prestigious international classifications, and the inclusion of 28 Egyptian universities in the first version of the Arab classification of Arab universities
The Council also listened to a report about the most prominent activities of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during December, adding that the Council launched the Best Environmentally Friendly University competition for the year 2024 which will begin on Saturday, December 30th.
Al-Noamani said that the North Upper Egypt Universities Alliance was launched, which comes in implementation of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research launched by the Ministry of Higher Education, within the framework of Egypt’s Vision for Sustainable Development 2030, in order to support regional alliances in building comprehensive development.
Finally Several protocols were signed as the a start of a regional alliance in northern Upper Egypt, between government and private universities, as well as between universities and industrial institutions in the region.
