Sohag University President Receives the International Ranking Certificate of the most Sustainable Universities

The university president expressed his pride in this unprecedented distinction, as the university won first place at the level of Egyptian and African universities in the facilities and infrastructure standard, and also jumped 35 global positions to achieve eighth place in Africa out of 40 participating universities from the continent of Africa, stressing that the efforts made In the sustainability file, it led to obtaining this distinguished position, despite the increase in the number of universities participating in the ranking this year.

Al-Noamani stressed that this achievement demonstrates the success of the university’s sectors in applying international sustainability standards and implementing many activities and mechanisms that confirm the extent of their commitment to implementing the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2040 for sustainable development and the national strategy for higher education and scientific research.

 He extended his thanks to the team work of the University’s Center for Sustainable Development. for their efforts, which contributed to the advancement of the university’s name locally, in Africa, and internationally.

Dr. Khaled Omran explained that the university has worked to implement many sustainability programs and activities in all fields, and is continuing to work to ensure that its campus remains clean and maintains sustainability standards such as sustainable buildings, reducing the use of environmentally polluting means of transportation, rationalizing energy and water consumption, and preserving… Green cover, reducing carbon emissions, reducing noise, recycling waste, in addition to digital transformation in all transactions to reduce the use of paper and expand clean energy projects.

Dr. Hamdy Hassanein pointed out that the result of this year’s ranking was announced in Dubai on the sidelines of the COP28 climate conference held in the UAE, explaining that the Center for Sustainable Development received the certificate of eighth place in Africa, the global ranking certificate of 320 at the level of 1,183 international universities, in addition to that The English website of the Center for Sustainable Development and the annual sustainability got 100% for the first time this year, extending his thanks to the university administration for providing all the necessary support and facilities, as well as his thanks to all members of the team work for their good cooperation and efforts that led to these honorable results.
